The Readings Of The Twenty-Seventh Week Of Ordinary Time

(October 9, 2023)

Today’s Gospel Passage is written in the fashion of irony.

  • Is not one always ready and open to approach a friend anytime?
  • Though it may seem God is not listening, go on asking – seeking – knocking…
  • Will a father give anything wrong to his children, if they should ask for ask anything of him…

Even as you understand these things, that a friend, even if reluctant, will always help because of his friendship, a father will provide correctly, so also we need to be children ourselves. Children placing our trust in God our Father. And knowing he is our Father, we can pester him with all our requests; wrong or right. What is important here is knowing God is our Father – and like a Father He will provide.

But God being Father, will provide, correctly (proper things and proper time) and perfectly. ‘God is Father,’ is not about knowledge, it is about experience. Get into/acquire the experience of God being your Father – Try Him!
